The "Zavitok-M" complex is intended for use as part of flight control centers, as well as for educational purposes. The complex provides reception of telemetry from small spacecraft in low Earth orbit and transmission of control commands to them. The complex is designed to work in accordance with the regulations of amateur radio communication.
The complex has two modifications: the main "Zavitok-M" and the "Zavitok-M" modification, which uses a stack of two directional antennas, which increases the nominal gain by 1.8 dB.
The complex provides:
- receiving telemetry from spacecraft using open protocols for transmission, such as AX.25 and its variations;
- transmission of telecommands and receipt of receipts according to similar protocols;
- receiving and transmitting data arrays;
- reception of images from NOAA satellites transmitted in the VHF band by the APT protocol;
- reception of images from Meteor-M satellites transmitted in the VHF band by the LRPT protocol.
The hardware part of the complex uses open common interfaces, due to which it is compatible with a large number of open source software:
- LRPT decoder;
- WxtoImg;
- GNURadio;
- Gpredict;
- Sound modem.
The antenna complex also includes a video camera that allows you to monitor the position and condition of the antenna. This provides great entertainment, is convenient in educational tasks and simplifies the operator's work.
The power supply of all devices included in the antenna complex is phantom (that is, it is carried out via a signal cable), low–voltage.
